My Tarot is an uncolored version of the Sharman-Caselli Tarot. The concept behind this deck is interesting. Basically, you get a line drawing version of the Sharman-Caselli Tarot for you to color.
But beware, I quickly found out that I would rather keep them devoid of color than attemting do any better or different than the original Sharman-Caselli Tarot artwork. The result is a fully illustrated tarot deck that is accessible to everyone, and a must-have for Tarot collectors. However, the Major Arcana draw inspiration from both tarots, although most of these cards imagery leans toward the Rider-Waite Tarot.Account name: Password OpenID?

Tarot and cartomancy. The bumper pack not only included the book, The New Complete Book of Tarot but two decks of tarot cards illustrated by Giovanni Caselli — one with fully colored artwork and the other featuring only line art like a coloring book : It seemed like the perfect opportunity to experiment with a simplified aspect of the cards: color. But even as I held the line art deck in my hands, I was confounded by the seemingly simple questions of what color and why. I suppose the question of black and white is culturally loaded.
For example, I know that in Asian cultures, white is the color associated with death and mourning. My intuition is strangely divided on this as I study the line art of the cards. Blue is connected with sensitivity, independence and tradition, yet it is also associated with introversion, moodiness and melancholy.
Yellow is the colour of the mind, intelligence and communication, but is also associated with cowardice and a reluctance to resort to physical conflict. Green is the colour of healing, regenerationsympathy and peace, yet it also has other, less pleasant, associations as bad luck and envy. Orange is the colour of joy, liveliness, enthusiasm and optimism; it is often associated with luck and good fortune.
Purple is linked with wisdom, majesty, sophisticated power and philosophy; mauve and indigo are connected with intuition, inspiration and spirituality. The booklet also provides the following interesting advice: As you think about the colours and decide what each one means to you, you will start to learn more about yourself and about how your personal tastes and preferences have evolved.
This, in itself, can be a fascinating discover, as many of your associations will have been made in childhood and you may have either forgotten how they came about or never given it much thought, until now.
My journey to self-awareness continues. Still, the kid in me itches to color in the sun on the card for the Fool… maybe a bright yellow or orange. What Tarot & Oracle Decks Do I Use In Readings? 🃏♦️♠️
Just because ;- Has anyone else taken on the challenge of designing their own Tarot cards? Or modify an existing card? Current Mood: curious.
Flat Top-Level Comments Only. Date: pm UTC. I have given serious thought to painting some individual cards - not as cards, but as works of meaningful art. I got as far as buying the necessary materials, but I've chickened out as far as actually doing it. I also don't know what I would do with the cards once they're created. Link Reply Thread Hide 3 comments Show 3 comments. I think a series of art pieces based on tarot imagery sounds like a cool project.
Actually, I might try this myself :- Material is readily available and somewhat inexpensive but I've never done anything that small before.
But it might be fun for a study or studies of a specific image. I was thinking somewhat larger than ACEO, actually. Link Reply Thread from start Parent. I've always kind of felt that the best tarot deck was one I'd drawn and designed myself, so I've been working on it sort of half-heartedly for about ten years. But my art skills are still in need of improvement, and there's always more to learn that needs to be worked into the designs, so I've never finished more than a few cards per deck.
I based the design around the color green for Death, because green is the Northern European death color, and it still shows up in American superstition, and both of those are my home traditions; and because I like the contrast between the green of death and decay and the green of life and birth, and the way it resonates with the Tarot's concept of death as a change, not an end, which is also something that shows up in the poem.
I do tend to switch between thinking that it's important to tie Tarot designs back to the orginial Rennaissance European traditions it's based on, and thinking that using whatever symbology resonates with me personally, or with the tradition I'm working in, is enough. But even the old traditional Tarot decks had so much variation, and borrowed from so many cultures themselves, that it's usually possible to combine thet two, to take the original Tarot elements and meanings and reinterpret them through the lens of your own traditions, even traditions that are very distant from the original.
We do that every time we read Tarot anyway; so it's good to work it into the designs. You know, it would be a neat activity for this community for everybody to take one of your uncolored cards and color it themselves, and then we could all post and compare. One of the things I like about tarot is its consistency. No matter how different the deck, the system outline is always there I like that I can pick up any deck and have a general idea of its meanings. The other thing I like about it, and one of the things that makes it so very interesting, is how adaptable it is to individual perspective.
The Major Arcana Tarot Card Meanings
I like how different decks offer different view points, further expanding the meanings of the cards. Whether or not a particular deck resonates with us, we can appreciate that we are holding in our hands an incredible book of art. Not only does this deck resonate with me, but I rather like its plucky attitude and gritty urban flare.
Combining age-old symbolism with a deeply colorful tattoo style art, these cards have a personality all of their own. To begin with, the cards come in the order in which the artist drew them, beginning with the Nine of Wands and ending with the Hanged Man. This allows us to see the progression of Lana's drawing project.
I absolutely love that she did it this way! I also like that she lists the drawing number at the bottom of each card. How cool is that?! Overall this book is well done with glossy pages, large colorful images, and general divinatory meanings of the cards. My favorite part of the book, however, is Lana's story, which I found extremely inspiring.
I appreciate her willingness to put it out there, sharing her artistic progression, as well as her career transition. I was fascinated by her creative process in general In her book Lana explains that 78 Cards started out as a drawing project, a chance to grow as an artist and push herself in new directions.
This inevitably led to the 78 Cards project. This is the short version, of course. The book version is a little more personal and much more interesting. Drawing 21, the Page of Pentacles was her first painting.Minecraft loot mod
Before that everything was completed with color pencils and markers. Apparently this was a huge development for her as an artist. Again, I find all of this extremely interesting, as well as inspiring. Attracted to tattoo art in general, I naturally gravitated toward the Tattoo Tarot. But what really captured my attention was the straight up, raw honesty of the cards. That way you can upload the images to a third-party print-on-demand site to order a physical copy for yourself.

Since the intent for offering the Major Arcana for free was for ritual coloring, in Key 2: The Priestess, I left both pillars blank white so that you can color them in any way you like. Final example to illustrate point: The Sun card. Pretty much every single Majors card has been changed between the files given for free download and the final black and white card that will be published.
Now for the free download files of the Major Arcana, which are just a shell of the line drawings for the cards to enable ritual-coloring of the Keys. There are a lot of amazing tarot decks out there for everyday secular readings and fortune-telling.
We each have a different Path, so naturally what the deck has to reveal will differ from keeper to keeper. Completion of the coloring by your hand will in effect consecrate and attune the deck as a nexus point between your HGA and you, so henceforth, the 22 cards can be used by you to communicate directly to your HGA, whoever your HGA may be. In one framing of the concept of the HGA that might make more sense to the rational-minded, the HGA is a personification of your higher genius.
In other words, activating that controlled connection with your inner higher genius will unleash the gates of your creativity and personal power in such a way that your productivity in all things will be amplified. If you do, then follow the instructions as closely as you can. I perceive the four sacred relics as metaphors that help us to better define and understand our own higher purpose and life goals. What does that instrument look like for you?Once upon a time, somewhere on the www, I found uncoloured line-drawn copies of the RWS cards. I have found it very useful to colour my own as a tarot exercise, and am always pleasantly surprised by what is revealed to me in the process.
An example of this is the Three of Swords card. Something changed the blades in the process of piercing the heart! This was something I had really not noticed before colouring in my own Three of Swords card. I also noticed for the first time that it was raining in the card! In these unexpected discoveries lie exciting new layers of possible interpretations to further enhance our reading abilities. I kept the line-drawings and am making them available here for download. Thank you for providing us with the resources to look into this for ourselves!!!! You are very welcome Cheryl! I am really pleased that you find value in this resource, it is a powerful exercise to do! Thank you for this. Our group has just completed this exercise, working with colour and colouring in cards. As of today in there are 3 different reproduction versions available on the market for this Tarot, all colored differently.
The version is still sold by the publisher in Italy and is still reasonably priced for its age since publication and limited availability. This version is also known as the Il Meneghello publisher or Osvaldo Menegazzi artist hand-colored version. Unlike other published versions of this deck, this edition does not come with any paperwork that explains the card meanings or translates the card names to English.
If you are familiar with French or Italian Marseilles and Etteilla decks, this will not be a problem.
Otherwise you will need to do some research on the history and meaning of the cards which is quite different from the popular modern Rider-Waite version, designed and authored by Arthur Waite.
The wax seal on the box left and numbered authentication card center. The card back of the deck is seen at the top of the photo. This Tarot deck is printed on a heavy paperboard or ultra thin cardboard-like cardstock similar in thickness to a postcard, fine greeting card or event announcement. These cards are matte with no finish. If your hands are damp and you touch the cards, they will soak liquid like a napkin.
The cardstock is also quite flexible and subject to creasing if you are not careful. The cards need to be mindfully handled with care and ease and kept away from moisture. The cards catch friction with one another quite easily. There is no way I wanted to even try and shuffle the cards hand-over-hand or the whole lot of them would end up bent and creased from repeated collisions.
I notice in particular that the Emperor in this deck looks so similar to the King of Wands in a Rider Waite deck. And instead of steering this vehicle from the front as it is shown in more modern decks, this one seems to be a passenger riding on the back. Middle section of Major Arcana cards. Strength La Forza is numbered XI.
The artwork and colorization of the last five Major Arcana cards in this deck are strikingly beautiful. Interesting Sword cards to see in this image: 3 of Swords, 4 of Swords, 9 of Swords and 10 of Swords. This entire suit of Swords is the most beautiful of the Marseilles style card decks or any existing Tarot deck for this suit that I have ever seen. I would have liked to photograph each card of this suit to showcase just how beautiful they are.
It is almost hard to believe the suit of Swords is associated with such strife in modern Tarot decks when much earlier card decks like this one presented them much more neutrally.
Example of Aces of each suit top and Deuce of each suit bottom. Artist credit and information would often show up on either the Ace or Deuce cards in old historic Tarot decks.Behold the magic meaning of the cards!
